1.5 Interface and Functionality

The ROVEN product consists of four distinct functional platforms. These consist of the Messaging Client, the Trading Room, Design HQ, and the Arena.

1.5.1 Messaging Client

The Messaging Client is the means of receiving and issuing challenges. It displays a list of all active trading rooms and provides access to the Design HQ and the Arena. Players may click on any individual in their contact lists to immediately issue a challenge.

1.5.2 Trading Room

The Trading Room is an environment for players to trade and auction off their bot modules and designs. Players choose which items to make available for trade and then evaluate offers from other players.

1.5.3 Design HQ

This area allows players to manage their assets and develop new bot designs using their available pool of mods. Players can also allocate their research and production efforts in an attempt to design new mods or produce mods from existing blueprints.

1.5.4 The Arena

This is the environment where bot combat takes place. Once a challenge has been accepted, an Arena window opens, depicting the combat space. Alerts are sent out to interested parties, inviting them to wager on the upcoming battle, or simply open up a view port to witness the battle. The two bots are transported to the arena and engage in automated combat based on their design specifications.
